I've been so excited to talk to you because I've been a fan of yours for a long time.

But for those people who don't know you, tell us who you are and what you do.

Man, so I'm Kenya.

I am a journalist and now in communications.

I also am a podcaster and I'm a doula.

I love this.

You have so many different jobs.

And the reason I wanted to have you on is because for a long time I've wanted to talk to somebody for this show who left journalism, left a newsroom to do something interesting.

And I had been following your doula journey and I was like, okay, this is perfect.

Especially because for a long time you covered public health.

And so I'm really interested in that transition, but let's go back to the beginning first.

I saw you say somewhere that you wanted to be a journalist, like from the time you were small.

So tell me a little bit about your path into journalism.

Okay, so, you know, I was born and raised in Georgia, raised by my mother.

And, you know, there's a few different stories about this.

So one is, so my parents were, they divorced when I was maybe four years old.
