Peter Lescop, chief information security officer at JT, tells Emily Moore why cyber security is not an issue that any one organisation can address alone
If there was one message from everything that we've discussed that you would really want listeners to take away with them, what would that be?
Yeah, I mean, I'll wrap it up into loads of messages in a couple of sentences.
And that includes, you know, identifying your risk, assessing your risk and understanding your risk and treating it accordingly.
And assessing those risks in the context of being an island community needs to consider those factors as well.
So do we have enough skills on island to be able to support ourselves in a disaster incident from a cybersecurity perspective? Maybe, maybe not across the island, right? So I would say, you know, treat the risk seriously and assess it and do what you need to do for your business to mitigate it.
Always easier to deal with something if you know what it is you're dealing with.
I think we do see a lot where people would just buy the new shiny tool, but doesn't necessarily have the risk or the means to be able to use that tool.
Don't get too focused on the shiny things and focus on the, you know, the more basics and you're going in the right direction.
