It was five moms, two dads, and, um, all seven of them had PTSD diagnosis directly related to raising a child with autism and emotional dysregulation.

So the, the researchers found these parents, um, at hospitals when the ho- when the children were admitted.

Um, and then you could really interact with the parents and see, okay, there, there, there has been a lot of trauma.

So that's how they found those parents, and the idea was to do, um- Just several EMDR sessions and to really see what, see what happens with that.

This was just applied very specifically in parents of kids with autism, and this was the first study of that kind of EMDR with autism parents.

And in half of the participants, their children were able to be measured as being more emotionally re- regulated.

And so that's really that important aspect of it's really hard for an autism parent to have that emotional regulation, 'cause everything about being an autism parent is about dysregulation, right? You're out of your comfort zone in just about everything.

But it's so important to be able to regulate because that's what our kids are feeling and, and like tapping into.

So that's how scientifically, um, they're starting to study how children and parents co-regulate.
