The Right Stuff

Mexico, my goodness.

Where do we even begin with this one? Because there is so much to talk about.

I guess the headline is...

If you don't already know, we did it.

We're through.

Somehow, despite all of this talk about Dan's favorite thing, the altitude, the loud noise inside the Azteca, the fireworks outside the hotel.

The referee, all that stuff.

Garnet and Witch Doctors, we somehow did it.

Free two.

What a game.

I have, in the 30 plus years I've been watching England, been watching international football, I've not experienced anything like this.

What about you boys? How are you feeling, 48 hours removed, and initial thoughts on what was an...

Instant classic.

Yeah, how good was it? I think the most pleasing thing was that we had an England team with some balls, with some heart.

You know, I look back at great England results in my lifetime and kind of your mind's immediately drawn to 5-1 in Germany.

beating Holland 4-1 in Euro 96.

But what those results didn't have was the Bulls and the Cajones to go out and defend for long periods of time, to be brave enough to give up possession and trust that you've got players who... who are good enough when you are on the ball to make a difference.

I still think we have some concerns defensively, but going forward, no complaints whatsoever.

Gordon, I thought, was outstanding.

We've had a bit of a grumble about him.

I thought he was brilliant.

Jude Bellingham, in my mind is going to become the best ever midfielder ever to wear an England shirt Harry Kane again you know we don't need to mention him Declan Rice thought Anderson did alright when he was on a few little slops at the back but the man who's taken so much stick in the last four or five games, perhaps unfairly at some time, Jordan Pickford.

What a performance.

And you feel like every big player in a tournament kind of needs that game.

And you feel like that was Pickford's game.
