12 Types of Christian Perfectionists

The first one, the first type of Christian perfectionist is the centrospector.

What am I talking about a centrospector? This is someone who's introspecting constantly.

focusing on finding sins.

They're sin-focused in their walk.

They're sin-obsessed, possibly.

They're preoccupied with trying to find things that are wrong within themselves.

So they're constantly inspecting their inner life because they need to do that constantly in order to feel, quote, right with God.

So they're constantly scrubbing and cleaning up what's wrong and And what they need to shift into is learning to build their life on what is right in Christ.

But instead, they keep in this cycle and cycle.

They're constantly fixing and fussing.

And they identify themselves as a wretched sinner.

That's how they see themselves.

Instead of recognizing their identity as a son or daughter of the Father through Jesus Christ.

So maybe you find yourself relating to this introspector.

The second one is the compulsive surrenderer.

I have seen this a lot in my work with people in one-on-one settings and in my pastoral work.

This type of perfectionist believes that giving things up is the key to getting closer to God or to get God to act.

So they get sucked into looking for things they got to give up and they got to surrender and let go of.

They get in this surrendering cycle.

They get in this thing where they got to give this thing up, got that thing up.

And it's usually two reasons.

One is to feel closer to God, to feel more righteous.

or two, to get God to move in their life, to use them, They become very, very works-related.

They become legalistic, but they can often defend it.

They can often say, no, I'm just really sold out.
