Think selling a product on Amazon is easy? Think again. In this episode of the Happy Money Podcast, Michael Barbaro shares the real story behind building the Cucina Crochet brand from the ground…
Gino BarbaroHostOne of the big ones that I see is people will sell already existing products.
And so you can sell things like Amazon Alexas, you can sell kind of the Apple Watch style watches or any kind of technological or anything, even like garden tools, right? Even power tools, all that kind of stuff.
You can sell your own books, Kindle, or you can do what I did, which is create your own branded product, which means it doesn't exist.

How did you start the process? Like, where did you get the idea of launching the brand and being able to put something like that together from nothing?
So initially me and a mentor that I have in e-commerce, we spent a good two to three months just researching products and that was in every category the first question is does it even sell because you can have the best idea and had some really good ideas but there was no market for them on amazon and so so so with that you have to take into consideration If it doesn't sell, that means you have an added amount of risk that you need to take into consideration.
And I had a really cool idea, which was I wanted to do one of those hand roller pasta machines, but I wanted to have like a bench scraper that was gonna be attached to the bottom.
And so we did the research on that, and Amazon did not have enough data to go forward with that kind of product.

So you said your risk would be like getting the machine, getting it all together, bringing it here, and then going on Amazon and saying, wow, I'm not selling anything.

So Michael, in our framework, buy right, operate and exit, this is the buy right portion of that framework.

When you're buying an Amazon product, you have to make sure that you're buying, quote unquote, or creating an asset, a product that that has value.
