How can we be "faithless" (2 Timothy 2:13) and still be saved? Is "once saved, always saved" actually true? Isn't salvation a contract? Do we have to keep up our end? Or are we really safe no matter…
Andrew FarleyHostHi, Andrew.
Thanks for taking my call.
I just had a question about 2 Timothy 2.13, when it says, if we are faithless, he remains faithful.
And I was just wondering, since faith is what causes us to have salvation, how can we be faithless and still be saved? And how does that kind of tie in with how when Jesus prayed for Peter, that his faith would not fail him? Because that kind of implies that somebody's faith can fail, and it kind of scares me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

alright so this puts to bed any question about eternal security oh my goodness you can't lose it because even if you wake up and you're having your worst day your worst month your worst year if you're feeling faithless well God remains faithful and you know why it's not because you're well-behaved it's not because you're obedient it's not because you're consistent it's not because you keep the faith No, it says because he cannot deny himself, which I think really means two things for us.

And if God told you he'll never leave you, that nothing can snatch you out of his hand, then, oh, my goodness, you can take it to the bank.

Now, the other thing that I think this passage so beautifully describes is it says he cannot deny himself.
