Santi Denia's Nations League Nomination

Yeah, a lot of different emotions are... around us now the Czech football fans because we don't know what to expect honestly and now obviously we have got some hints because of the nomination so that's what I would like to talk to you about today the Czech national team nomination I know you may not be a Czech fan so hopefully you enjoy it anyway I will try to take a light-hearted approach and as always one of the things I do here is that I try to teach some vocabulary through uh through my videos so today is just me no guest um so if you prefer episodes with guests like the previous one with clive then um i'm sorry it's just going to be me only me right let's go guys the nations league you know uh this a weird new competition that some of you don't probably like, that some of you consider insignificant or redundant or just... unnecessary yes the football players play a lot of games and they decided that football players will play even more games so they created Nations League I don't know when it was created but I guess it was about five years ago or so and Actually, there is a way that the Nations League is important, and that's because you can qualify for the Euros or the World Cup from the Nations League somehow, or it helps you to get to the playoffs, something like that.

Basically, it's like an alternative route.

So it's like also an insurance for teams that mess up their qualification group.

It's like another way they can do it.

I think, for example, Sweden, they really screwed up their group, but thanks to the Nations League, they managed to get to the World Cup in the end.

So, It's important.

But somehow, for some reason, the Czech Republic team is in Group A, which is the top tier of the Nations League, which is the group that has the best teams.

I don't know how we managed that.

I suppose we won Group B the previous time.

That's how we managed that.

And it's not the first time we've been there.

It's our second time, actually.

But our opponents are just from another world.

Well, they are from the same world as us.

In fact, they're even from the same continent.

They're from Europe because this is a European competition.

So who are they? I hear you asking.

Well, two semifinalists of the World Cup.

One of them being England.

The other one, Spain.

Hang on, they were the ones who actually won it.

Yes, so we've got the World Cup champions in the group, as well as the semi-finalists, England.

And then, if this were not enough, we also have Croatia, one of the best teams in Europe.

So, yeah, it is going to be quite tough.

And we are the underdogs of this group.
