Unsustainable? She Disagrees
She challenges claims low-carb diet is unsustainable.
The first question is, I've been fasting, trying to stay consistent, but I'm not seeing the weight loss yet.
Coach Terri likes to say that it is a dial, and, unfortunately, there is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so where you need to be on that dial is very much dependent on your level of metabolic dysfunction, how much weight you have to lose, how long it's been since you've been carrying extra body fat, et cetera.
And so in general, what we have to do is start somewhere and then adjust that dial based on the results we're getting.
Oftentimes, when people come to fasting, they think of a 16/8 or 18/6 fasting protocol as being the end-all be-all when it comes to fasting, and that's not always enough for everyone, but it's a really good starting point.
So starting with a 16-hour fast is a really good way to start, but you might need to intensify past that in order to get the results you're looking for.
Also, depending on your level of insulin resistance, it might take you a while to get your insulin down far enough that your body is able and willing to start releasing body fat for fuel.
