The Alchemist and the Eagle Chapter 32 Secret Revealed Tugwin scoffed and snorted in such a way that made it clear to everyone that he knew he had been correct and Zhao wrong.

The rebels were becoming increasingly troublesome and far more daring after a brief lull in their uprising.

There was a brief period of no outright attacks, which had been interpreted as success through intimidation and overwhelming odds.

Hundreds were dead, countless slaves freed, and 31 ships lost, all in the span of little more than a month.

"'How do you account for this?' demanded Yale of the military commander who delivered the report.

"'How can these savages, these heathens, have gotten the better of our finest ships and soldiers? Explain this disaster!' My lord, said the uncomfortable commander, we have every reason to believe that they are getting help.

We found this, said the commander, lifting up a partially destroyed Elusi resonance pad that had been taken from a field of battle.

They have a fairly wide field of range, and when our ships fly over them, they lose power.

We haven't been able to figure out the mechanism yet, as this is the only one we've been able to recover.

We also have reports of renegades using hand weapons that serve the same purpose, though we haven't managed to get one into our possession yet.

You battle these people, and they knock our ships out of the sky like flies, and you have no idea how it works? Sorry, my lord, said the commander, trying to sound sincere and humble, but I personally have no expertise in such matters.

but I knew in your wisdom that you would want to see it first before we dismantled it and examined it thoroughly.
