Jalen Duren, Pistons agree to five-year, $200 million extension after months of negotiations

But Cam, let's jump right into it, man.

You know, you're from Detroit.

You basically seen the rise, the fall, the resurgence of this franchise.

Have you ever seen in offseason and a summer this crazy and dramatic like what took place with Jalen Dern and the Detroit Pistons? As everyone pretty know as of right now, Jalen was up for a contract extension.

As we know the story, you know, career season, a phenomenal year last year, played the second most and sometimes the most important role in the Pistons winning 60 games.

All NBA All-Star was eligible for a max extension.

This offseason was like 287.

Piston was like, hold on.

We don't want to pay that much.

This is what we value for.

Negotiation started, what, mid to late June? And here we are, October 2nd at 6.30 p.m.

And we are officially, what, less than over 24 hours away.

24

hours from him actually accepting the five-year $200 million contract.

Exactly.

So let's jump right into it.

Cam, what are your thoughts on this? First of all, to answer your first question, I have never in my life...

Seen nothing like this.

I mean, just everything from the beginning of the negotiations, how far apart during and the Pistons were this dragging on all summer into the fall.

The fact that the qualifying offer was on the table and that apparently up until the last minute, it was a natural option for him.

The fact that he wanted to be traded out of Detroit.

as well also another factor in this whole summer fiasco it's just been just for the pistons itself because we will get to the nba as a whole eventually because this was just a crazy off season but for the pistons to have a 60 win season To have the playoffs that you had, you have to play two seven-game series.

You end up losing to the Cavs in seven.

Durant didn't play particularly well in those playoff games, which is particularly why there was such a gap between Durant and the Pistons on this contract.

And now we're here to finally talk about this because he actually signed.
