Her mother is still alive and has lived with dementia for 25 years." I mean, I'm a little astonished to hear dementia for 25 years.
Recently, we were able to get her mother enrolled in a long-term care facility.
"She was found by my wife laying next to her father, but she had no idea what had happened." So she's laying next to her deceased spouse and has no idea what's going on.
"Yesterday, during a visit, my wife's mother again asked a few times, 'Where's Dan?'" My wife's father, her husband.
"We're torn on whether or not to tell her because she seems happy in the long-term care facility.
We worry if we tell her that she will, of course, be sad and upset, but then forget, causing us to possibly need to tell her again.
Our question would be: Would it be better to not tell her and deflect the answer and tell her her husband is busy or not available or at the dentist, whatever?" So here's the situation.
