A Parent's Desire to Provide Stability

So I have a 25-year-old daughter who me- moved back in with me.

Uh, I was married prior obviously.

And, um, so she's 25 now.

She moved in about four and a half, five years ago, and of course our agreement was you work full time and you pay rent or you go to school and you don't pay rent.

And just recently in the last week she got a DUI.

Um, this is her second accident, but the first one was a different situation altogether.

She ran into a parked, um, dumpster and it was in our parking, I'm sorry, in our home area, so she didn't have any issues with being tested for DUI, but I'm und- I, I think she was.

But nevertheless, um, so anyway, she's got the DUI now and of course she's having to deal with all that and almost kind of putting it on my lap, um, to help her out, which I've decided I'm not gonna do.

Um, and I'm selling my home in November.

I've been telling her for the last year that you have till November to move out and you need to make arrangements, and as of right now, as far as I could tell, she hasn't made any yet.

And I'm just-- I love my daughter.

She's actually a good person.

She just makes poor choices obviously, and I just don't know how to approach this going forward, 'cause I don't want her to be homeless, but at the same time I don't wanna enable her either.

So I guess I'm just looking for words that I could use to let her know that I love her, but also I can't take care of you anymore.

You're a grown woman.

And it's caused a rift with my wife and I as well.
