D&P Highlight: Coach fired for running up a score on another team. Should he have been fired?

Uh, story here from the New York Post.

Zach Laboy shockingly did not take his foot off the pedal despite being up by 57 points, and his Oregon high school applied the same viciousness when it came to his future with its football program.

Ooh.

They fired him for winning.

Wow.

Marist Catholic fired Laboy after employing two onside kicks, including one while the team was leading by 57-

Yeah

...

in the second quarter of a 63 to zero win against Cottage Grove High School on October 9th.

Uh, Principal Bob Fraley reportedly emailed team, uh, parents to say the school made the decision to remove Zach Laboy from his position as head coach, effective immediately.

They were up 57 to zero at the end of the second quarter.

Yep, we're going for it.

[laughs]

They did, they did an onsides kick.

The, by the way, the other team only had 16 players.

16.

Yeah.

So everybody's basically p- uh, playing both sides of the ball.

Yeah.

We're gonna kick you in the teeth.

Okay.

All right? And when you punch us back, we're gonna smile at you, and when you knock us down, we're gonna get up, and on the way up, we're gonna bite a kneecap off, all right? And we're gonna stand up, and then it's gonna take two more shots to knock us down, all right? And on the way up we're gonna take your other kneecap, and we're gonna get up.

[laughs]

And then it's gonna take three shots to get us down.

And when we do, we're gonna take another hunk out of you.
