This episode is about staffing your academy, start to finish. I break it into three parts. First, who to hire when you're still wearing all the hats, and why your first real hire off the floor is an…
So if you are currently Mr. or Mrs.
Does Everything, you're wearing all the hats, the first people that you could hire and this...
It goes back and forth based on your immediate needs, but would either be a part-time coach or an admin person.
I'm going to assume that even if you are wearing all the hats, head coach, professor, all that stuff, you probably have one or two part-time coaches already.
So I'm going to say your first official hire off the floor, you're looking for some kind of admin.
And this is the first thing I want you to really think about.
is how you spend your time.
And that is some of the things in your academy you don't want to give up and some of the things you definitely should give up.
So if an admin does the membership upgrades, downgrades, pauses, cancels, all that stuff, yes, you don't have your finger on the pulse of the business quite as much, but there should be some reporting that's built into that, right? If you're not doing metrics, right? You should be.
Incredibly important to track what's going on in the business.
That's another thing for another episode, which we have covered many times and we'll cover again.
But essentially, you're not losing anything.
You're gaining a lot of mental bandwidth.
A lot of your mental battery gets drained on just...
Just stupid stuff.
Having to go through and fight and phrase and figure out how to try and keep people happy, essentially.
Or answer in a diplomatic way when you want to just tell somebody to fuck off.
It's a challenging thing.
And so you get an admin to do that for you.
They can also order cleaning supplies, help you organize events.
There's a myriad of tasks that they can help you do.
And so your mental battery just doesn't get drained and the sands of time, you have more of them because somebody else is doing this minutia.
And these things are important, but they're very repetitive and they're typically low value, right? The most important things you can do in terms of generating revenue for your academy and yes, keep the students.
Keeping students is number one.
We cannot build a base of monthly recurring revenue or MRR if we don't keep our students.
