I think even from a mindset perspective, realizing that we have mindsets and the impact that those mindsets have, that's a fundamental component.

They're a lens or a filter that will shape how we pay attention to, how we prioritize information.

So if you talk about any form of performance environment, say in business, it's going to impact your decision making because your mindset will filter out what you prioritize and what information you allocate your attention to.

So if there's information that conflicts your mindset, you often just discard that and pull other information that reinforces it.

So like you touched on in a sporting context, You can't assume that a skill error is necessarily the skill error.

You got to go back a couple of layers and think about what's the mindset? How does that then impact decision making? Because mindset will impact depending on your mindset could impact what you hear.

So if my mindset was don't fuck up versus my mindset was optimism, I would see through my brain, not my eyes, different things.

You'll see, there's obviously a, whole reality of what is happening around us but we construct our own reality on top of that so again maybe in a sporting context we may perceive if I'm attacking the defensive if I'm positive and brave I may construct a reality that slows the line speed down may show me opportunity or gaps appearing between players to exploit.

If I'm more in a passive or defensive mindset or feeling scared, even if you could replay the same situation, it would feel faster.

The gaps between people would not appear because it's not like our eyes are a GoPro or an iPhone camera that's just filming the reality.

That's all getting filtered through our brain and we're then constructing reality around it.

example? So I've been playing around with this with my son and actually watched his video at the weekend and He's moved from a game previously where he didn't have the same mindset, where he's actually making line breaks and stuff, to actually, because he's thinking about not making mistakes, he's actually looking at his past rather than in front of him.

So he's actually paying attention to completely different things and where this goes as opposed to the picture in front.

And again, I think back to my career and think, how much mindset influenced me both, probably super positively and start on the end and in the middle, it became quite debilitating.

yeah and the beauty of mindset is like we've talked about at the start we can we can train it we can change it we can nudge it we can it's so malleable you know and it doesn't have to be true or false factually it's just a belief system so we can shape that belief system in really adaptive ways whether it's sport whether it's business it's kind of maybe like a And there'll be businesses that have done this, but if you go back five or six years to COVID, if you're a business owner with staff, but your mindset is this is a challenging period, it's going to be terrible for the business.
