And it was such a great, as I say to a lot of artists, it's that song that connects with fans out there.

I wrote this song with three other amazing songwriters here in Nashville, and we sat down that day and got on a really cool idea of, you know, what took you so long to break my heart? If we were going to do this thing the whole time, you know, why not just cut it off before it hurt? And I think that was a really cool idea.

And, um, I 100% have, and I think everyone else in the room that day had felt it.

And we got to kind of tell our truth, um, all of us together about, you know, the, that situation that we dealt with.

And, um, Once we started putting the melodies together with the lyric, it just felt so good.

And it was one of those songs that you look back on and be like, man, if I could do that every day, I don't even know what I would be doing.

Because those are the days that you pray for and that you work really hard for.

You told me you loved me in one week You moved in in one month and then we Took a trip out to your mama's Thought we were really onto something Had talks and gold bands and blueprints Driveways and concrete and shoe prints We never did anything slow So what took you so long To tell me goodbye Why did you hold on Like you'd always be mine If you knew it was wrong After all of this time What took you so long To tell me goodbye There's a real short line from the back of your mind To the tip of your winter Was it all too hard just to fold your cards and let us be done? Were you thinking it's all in the soft and the blow? I think I deserve to know what took you so long to tell me goodbye.

Why did you hold on? What took you so long to tell me goodbye? Ooh, you always knew what you want when you wanted it Ooh, so why'd you wait so long just to call it quits? Ooh, it's just so unlike you to drag this on So what took you so long To tell me goodbye Why did you hold on Like you'd always be mine If you knew it was wrong After all of this time What took you so long To tell me goodbye
