How about going back to the end of the last podcast, I think it was the end of May.

Then you got out to the Azores and you went to San Miguel? so the azores i mean these fabulous portuguese islands out there in the middle of the atlantic thousand miles out to sea rising straight off the seabed and as a consequence having incredible marine life and i think you got to see some

marine life we'll come on to that shortly yeah sperm whales primarily but lots of different types of dolphins a fantastic place having been in mainland portugal so to speak for a while um It was quite noticeable to me, just skipping the sailing and going to the sort of culture and geographical and environmental differences.

The differences in the Azores, for a start, architecturally and just the land, it's incredibly verdant and green there.

As listeners to the previous episode, which we think we made, we're not entirely sure, I had strong northerlies up to 30 knots, pretty all the way over.

I got to the island of San Miguel, Isla de San Miguel, which is the kind of easternmost island, the closest to the mainland of Lisbon, if you like.

lots and lots of shearwaters uh quarries i identified them i think as quarry shearwaters but other than that not much bird life or wildlife on the way over some dolphins when i left the mainland and some nice spotted dolphins i've never seen before the small fast variety they're quite small and pretty speedy to greet me which obviously the tourist information board had sent out to greet me because they knew i was coming
