Summer is doing more than warming us up, it’s pulling us back to themselves. Hosts Jo and Nina unpack why this season feels so powerful, especially for women, and why the real shift might be less…
So we have been talking amongst us and like our friends about what is it about summer? We've talked about, is it about like that mid-year check-in? If you're a vision porter and goal setter like Joe, is it like, what is it? Is it about sun and the vitamin D? Like, what is it? So today...
I spent some time with a friend.
We went to the driving range.
I went to the gym, trained with some of my female ladies there.
And what I was noticing kind of mid-squat as I was encouraged to add incremental plates.
But the reason, yeah, I know it's funny to be on the receiving end of that.
yeah why i think summer is so big for us is because i actually think we hang out with more women during the summer doing more things that like fill our cups and at the end of the day I'm no Cyndi Lauper, but like girls, they want to have fun.
It is true.
I mean, there's a thing called bottomless brunch, which I feel like may be applicable at any age.
Joe is going, no.
But for those of us who have carried on their 20-year-old traditions, there's nothing I love more than... meeting up with a girlfriend and saying, hey, want to grab a coffee? And then somehow that turns into we should probably just grab a drink.
Somehow that turns into I stroll in at 9 p.m. and go straight to bed.
Like, I totally understand where you're coming from.
Well, I mean, I did used to get Lex pretty little margaritas in the summer in my old backyard.
This is
true.
And we should preface this and say it's just you and I today, Jo, chatting.
It is just us.
Laurel is dealing with a sick child, unfortunately.
So we've got a little one-on-one solo time and solo insights here.
We rarely have solo time, but yeah, I think we have been pondering this.
And I think like back to some of our like front seat of my car conversations about you and your lack of hobbies, me and like refinding or reconnecting or recommitting to some of my hobbies.
It all kind of clicked for me today where I was like, Like, bitches be crazy, but we also like to have fun and we're great when we have fun together.
And it seems to happen more in the summer.
I love that.
