Melissa WhitfieldHostWell, we're happy to have you on talking about anything, but especially this topic, which is kind of near and dear to me, and it's about not getting sick while being around others.
So before we go into that, if you could just tell us a little bit about yourself, your expertise, and what you do at TTUHSC.

So I am an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Education here at the School of Medicine.

I have a master's of public health, and I also have a PhD in public health.

And clinically, my expertise is infection prevention and healthcare epidemiology.

So what that does is it's the person who is at the hospital making sure that there is no transmission of bacteria or viruses or other sicknesses between patients.

If you think about it, people are admitted often because they have a virus or a bacterial infection, and we don't want that spreading among patients.

And so I've gotten really good at understanding transmission pathways and how to prevent things from spreading.

So it applies just as well in community settings as it does in, if not even more, in health care settings.
