Episode 48 w/Jake Eilerman (419 LIVE)

So when you first got involved, what did comedy in Lima look like? At the time.

It looked

like a show at the Civic Center every once in a while.

And then it looked like a Lima Land comedy show maybe once every three, four months.

Yeah.

And then a weekly open mic at the Holiday Inn.

Yes, the old Holiday Inn.

We used to do a Thursday open mic showcase on Thursday nights to basically every trucker that was going through that wanted to go down to the bar and have a beer, we put on a show.

We didn't charge tickets.

Nothing.

And one of the biggest things that came out of that show was we had an issue go viral on Worldstar.

We had a comedian punch our host for cutting him off.

Jeez.

But that was the biggest thing out of there.

But, I mean, that was really the only comedy.

I mean, you weren't putting on, you know, big shows.

You know, we were doing them in the smallest venues.

I mean, there's one place I'm pretty sure is now like a shed for a business that we were actually doing a comedy show out of to like maybe 20 people.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And then, I mean, yeah, that was really what comedy was in the area.

There really wasn't a true blue comedy scene other than a random open mic down at Louie's or the Thursday showcase at the Holiday Inn.

Sure.

Yeah, I

just seen Burt Kreischer over at the Civic Center a few weeks ago.
