Safe Babies Court was created by our national partner, Zero to Three, about 20 years ago.

They still provide technical assistance and oversight to all of the Safe Babies Court sites across the country.

Our state partner here in South Carolina is the South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association, and they brought the approach to South Carolina and helped to first implement the approach here in 2020.

Berkeley and Dorchester are the two newest sites in South Carolina, both of which started actively serving families just earlier this year.

Both Berkeley and Dorchester Safe Babies Court teams spent about a year implementing the approach with help from both Zero to Three and South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association.

The teams took time to outline the specific process that each Safe Babies Court case goes through in their counties.

Safe Babies Court is a general approach and may not be implemented the same way in each county, which allows each county to ensure that the approach is tailored to their specific needs.
That's awesome.
That's a great way to kind of give us a little bit of history and understand kind of how, how many Safe Babies Court programs there are and kind of how we got started.
