Well, we do, Joe, you'll love this, getting away from the first icebreaker, we have a result to talk about.
So we've not talked about very much, if at all, the under 19's regional series that's going on at the minute.
But with so many current, future, maybe starting this year as freshers, uni ball players getting involved, I thought we might as well mention it.
Um, the South East Kings played the first game of their s- of the regional series against the SGS Pride sixth form team, under 19's team, however they figured that out themselves, and won 26-18.
And it was a ridiculous game.
It was a very long game.
Both quarterbacks went, both starting quarterbacks went down with different injuries.
Um, the Kings quarterback went down with a head injury, and the SGS quarterback went down with what looked like a broken arm, so, you know, lots of thoughts for that kid.
Um, fellas, at UWE twos, you're involved with this sort of Bristol citadel of American football.
Just, just talk to me, what did it do for sort of the area, knowing that you also have, you know, academy teams and everything underneath it, you know, as well as the uni ball program at the grassroots and the senior league games, and it j- it just, regardless of the result, it just all feels really Bristol-centric at the minute.
Yeah.
It is pretty cool knowing that you're playing for a team that's sort of in one of the best cities for American football.
Yeah
... um, f- SGS, SGS under 19s, and they're playing at, like, the highest level imaginable.
So it is really cool, and it means that there's so much talent in and around the Bristol area, so mu- so many really good coaches as well that can coach multiple teams, and there's just sort of like a shared pool of knowledge.
So- I think it's just, it's all really good for the game and leveling us all up as players and coaches.
Yeah.
It's, it-- Speaking from outside the building, I'm not in and around the Bristol area, I'm not involved with any of the teams, it always feels really daunting when you look at a fixture list and it's, okay, that is a team in Bristol, regardless of what team it is.
You know, I'm involved with coaching the Kings, and seeing that our first game was SGS, I knew nothing about the SGS Academy or, you know, the quality of the football or whatever, but you just see the word Bristol at the minute in Brit Ball and you go, "Oh, that's gonna be a game." You know? Um, is that something you're aware of on the other side? Like, do you feel that you're the fixture other teams are circling?
I mean, kind of.
I mean, I watched the episode with the other guys from last week.
We got pointed out, we got circled, and then obviously with the ones, everyone's gonna circle them and everyone knows, everyone's like-- We're, we're always under a microscope, everyone's watching what we do, so we take pride in that.
And even then I was with the Ad Tech this summer as a photographer, um, I hear and see like, you know, what people are saying and it's like, I know Bristol has almost like a target and it's quite enjoyable to be honest because, you know, brings that added emphasis on winning and making sure, you know, Bristol's football can be taken to a level that, you know, deserves the kind of reputation it's got.
