Inside Teegra’s World of Synths, Soul and Personal Stories | Oktaves Podcast (Ep. 17)

A lazy eye, a doctor’s appointment, and a new connection somehow ended up becoming Teegra’s debut single, “Laser Eyes.”In this episode of the Oktaves Podcast, Stockholm indie pop band Teegra talk about how the song came together and how an ordinary conversation about laser treatment completely changed the direction of the idea. What started as a song about meeting someone new and trying to understand each other became something sharper: going from blurry vision to seeing clearly, cutting through all the uncertainty.Teegra describe their sound as indie pop with synths and soul, and they handle the entire process themselves, from recording to mastering. The band originally met through work, which makes the way they write together feel especially relaxed and instinctive. When we asked how much of their music comes from real life, they summed it up perfectly: at a Teegra show, everybody gets to be the psychologist. We also talk about their time in Iceland, the venues and people that made them want to return, and the new music they already have in progress. They also introduce us to the bandmates who couldn’t make it to the studio that morning, including the one who somehow always has the exact cable or adapter everyone forgot and the one who constantly arrives with another synth sound to try. There may also be mid-air karate kicks. It’s a funny and easy conversation with a band still early in its story, figuring things out together, making everything themselves, and slowly building a sound that feels distinctly their own.Topics covered:- Where the name Teegra comes from, and why it's all about the sound- The story behind the debut single "Laser Eyes"- How a doctor's appointment reshaped the song- From lazy eyes to laser eyes: seeing clearly and cutting through- The band's roots in Stockholm and how they met through work- Indie pop with synths and soul- Recording and mastering everything themselves- Why everybody gets to be the psychologist at a Teegra gig- Their time in Iceland and the people they met- New music on the way- Meet the band: the gear saver, the synth idea guy and the karate kicks- Building an audience as a brand new band🎧 Follow Teegra on their musical journey:Instragram: https://www.instagram.com/teegra.music/Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@teegramusicWebsite: https://linktr.ee/teegraEP. 17.
