Today I'm chatting with Paaton from South Dakota, who's in a season where she's taking a personal challenge of saying YES to as many things as she can – to unexpected dates, to new friendships, to…
Paaton KarelGuestDebra FiletaHostSo your typical week now probably looks different than your typical week did, well, say, a year ago today, right?
So tell us a little bit about, like, over the past few years of your life, what does a typical week look like? And then in this season, what does a typical week look like?

So in the last couple of years, I spent the past two years traveling nearly full-time for work, and so I was constantly on the go, constantly, um, in and out of airports and hotels, and which sounds really fun, but I realized a lot about myself through that season, as you may well understand too, that consistency is a really big value in my life, that I-

... just am a healthier, more whole human when I have the same place where I lay my head on a pillow every night and where I have more routine and rhythm and consistency.

So that's something I learned about myself, but I was definitely in going 100 miles an hour with work and with just being still relatively early on in my career, and that has definitely taken a change here in the last couple of months as I've been in this season of figuring out what's next.

And having relocated recently, there's a lot of newness around, but for Peyton, newness translates to excitement.

I get to create new friendships and community and find, um, new hobbies and whatever else seems exciting around me.

Uh, but here in South Dakota, I'm currently living just with my two dogs, who are wonderful companions, but it's l- it's a little different than, um, with a roommate as we, we know.

Uh, but yeah, so this current season is filled a lot with just conversations with people that are wonderful mentors and friends trying to help me navigate what could be next for me and what the Lord has, uh, to use my skills and talents for in the next season of life.
