I've only done it once, but almost immediately I went from being the hockey guy or the sports guy to the music and books guy, and yet in my mind I was always all of those things and therefore also none of those things.

I moved with ease between groups at school and connected in some way with all of them, the music nerds, the sports jocks, had a foot in each camp, and I could speak either language.

They liked grunge and classic rock and rap and metal, all of which I also loved, and my sports ability was more than decent.

I was in the top teams for the school in three codes and several regional and national teams and men's clubs for my one main sport.

But that didn't quite mean that I was gonna drink beer out of a shoe or anything like that.

But challenge me to eat a hamburger made from cat food, and it might be a different story.
