Superhumanistic Health & Wellness
Jul 4, 2026 · 10 min · 9 segments
On this episode of Superhumanistic with David and Jessica, we shine a spotlight on one of the most overlooked yet crucial organs in your body, the thymus. Often forgotten after childhood, the thymus…
Yeah, so starting to get into first the science behind what it is.
So breaking it down simply, the thymus is basically like your training center for your immune system.
So specifically something called the T cells, which are a type of white blood cell that help your body fight off infections and even cancer.
So what's fascinating about all of this is that the thymus is more active when we're younger, so like childhood into puberty, and that's when it's really working at full capacity.
Then as we age, something strange
happens.
Obviously, like most things that we talk about on this podcast, a lot of our cells start to degrade over time.
Same with the thymus.
It starts to shrink.
It's a process called involution, and it shrinks your ability to produce new and diverse T cells.
That goes down, the ability to do that.
So in a way, our immune system becomes less adaptable over time then.
