On this episode of Superhumanistic, David and Jessica dive deep into the fascinating world of memory. From cognitive health to the mechanics of short-term, long-term, and working memory, discover what…
this week we're getting into a topic that's pretty fun i don't know if anyone has ever watched that show called brain games we're getting into our mind and what's best for our cognitive working memory long-term memory um maybe it is taking some smart drugs that are out there or not, but we're going to get into that.
We're getting past the phase of, you know, I'm going to stay up and drink all the monsters because I'm gonna have a term paper that's due by 12 a.m. the next day, but that's okay.
I'm still gonna drink like 12 of these monsters so that I can write this out.
We want to focus more on memory and mental clarity in this episode, but without us getting those jittery hands and the inevitable 4 p.m. crash.
All right.
And let's go ahead and define that goal before we get into the what.
We need to define the how.
So most people think that cognitive enhancement is over stimulating your central nervous system.
But in the longevity space, we are looking for that neuroprotection and synaptic plasticity.
Yes.
There's going to be lots of terms that I will for sure be mispronouncing.
So bear with me, please, or us.
So if a substance gives you a boost today, but then burns out your receptors for tomorrow, it's not longevity, right? So it's alone with actually high interest, which is taking a toll on our bodies.
We want tools that actually support our brain's natural chemistry.
So we're going to get into the foundation of nootropics next.
Some big words here.
So very science-based this episode.
So let's start with the heavy hitters that actually have the data to back them up.
