Al Paton's Top 5 Captains | SuperCoach AFL Finals: Week 3

And at number five, I've got Josh Dunkley.

So a little bit of a flyer here.

Uh, we know in finals you can get some unpredictable scores.

I didn't have Tom Papley in my top five last week, I will admit that.

So you can't predict everything, but we look at the numbers and try and do the best we can.

And really, if you had the fundamentals last week of Bont, uh, Luke Jackson, Errol Gulden, you're on your way to a very good score.

So let's try and at least nail those guys, and then maybe you can take a little bit of a flyer with one of those last two or three positions, and this could definitely be one that pays off this weekend.

Josh Dunkley, to be frank, has had a pretty awful year when it comes to Supercoach.

His average is 22 points down on last season.

But we've seen signs of life in the past three weeks, uh, and that has coincided with a bump in his CBA numbers.

Back over 80% in each of those games after hovering in the 60s for most of the year.

So he's had scores of 98, 128, and 112 over the past three weeks, and crucially, has a really good record against Adelaide over his career, averaging 120 in his past five against them.

So I'll be picking him in my team this week.

At number four, I've got Jordan Dawson playing in that same game.

Now, don't expect to see any tags here.

The midfielders will just go head-to-head.

Both coaches tend to allow that.

And Brisbane has actually been, uh, you know, we don't have any easy pickings against the Richmond or an Essendon at this time of year, but Brisbane has been a reasonably easy matchup for midfielders for most of this season.

We saw last week they let Errol Gulden score well over 130 points.

So it could be a big one here for Jordan Dawson.

He scored 101 last week, which is a bit, which is right in his wheelhouse.

Over his last five games, every one of those has been between 101 and 111.

So great consistency, maybe not quite the level that we want from our captain or vice captain.

But he does have a great record playing against Brisbane.

His last three scores against them, 138, 108, and 142.
