Well, I think landscape is a really interesting space in part because people depicting landscape often use it in a way to project human narratives or like human romanticism, you know, like stories that want to be told, but then also especially noticing things that happen out in the world around me.
Some of it is very human, but then there's also things that happen beyond human control.
Like when I think of just like weather, time, wear, animals, but also then like non-living factors.
When I think about landscape, I really enjoy that it's something that I don't have full control over painting.
And so there's that element of surprise, like when I encounter something that has changed and I can really wonder about like, how did that happen? Like, what's the story beyond what I know or what I can imagine?
