Getting to know the Five Slices

I know that Sorin and Tom, you knew each other before this summer, but the rest of you, this last two weeks is the first time you've worked together as a group.

What do those rehearsals look like for you as musicians that are just getting to know each other?

They're really fun.

I really feel like I'm getting to know everyone on a more personal level, like almost just sharing music.

It just feels like something that I never really get to do at home with my other friends.

And it's been a great experience for me.

And I always find I'm very close with my quintet at the end of every session.

For Nicholas, this is your first year at camp.

Can I ask, what is this camp experience like for you as a first time camper?

It's something that doesn't exist in Spain, I think.

Such a great place to learn and to experience having people that share the same art as you.

So many people.

It's like, I don't know the exact number, but it must be over a thousand.

It's incredible.

And yeah, I'm super grateful that this exists, really.

Yeah, the rest of you, you've been coming to Interlochen Arts Camp for at least two years now.

What keeps you coming back to this place?

I feel like one of the most important things is the community it provides.

Like Nicholas and Samantha both mentioned earlier, at home, while there's still a lot of people who do music, maybe not everyone's as passionate as we are.

We take our time to actually apply to summer festivals, and Interlochen has a really beautiful community because everyone here has the same drive as you, and it makes you want to improve your craft more.

Very nice.
