Interlochen

Kiku Collins has established herself at the heights of pop, jazz, and R&B.

This former Jersey girl followed music on a journey out of her small town to the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and from there onto the biggest stages in the world.

Collins has performed with

Beyonce, Michael Bolton, Jill Scott, Nick Lowe, Gloria Gaynor, Train, and more.

you

end up going to school? Yeah, I went to school, and I was at Interlochen for my senior year of high school.

And, I mean, you know, I learned things.

So where did you go after Evanston? Did you move to New York? What was the next step for you?

I went to a, a boarding school called Interlochen Arts Academy.

Yeah.

And I'd gone to summer camp there for a couple years.

And, um, we were called Transmission, like a new car.

Mm-hmm.

And, uh, and then, um, we, uh, went to this Interlochen school, and I did get into some better schools, and I got wait-listed at most of them because my classmates got into them, and I knew where I stood in the-

So that's what I've been working on.

She's still anonymous, but she went on to work in the entertainment industry.
