I also, if I may, wanted to state that not only do you provide such incredible support for the mother, which is huge, but also the support that you provide for the birthing partner.
I know from my own experience that my husband, who is a trained professional, like medical professional, by the way, he is trained as an EMT.
He was so relieved to have your support there and to be able to ask you questions about the process and about what I needed and my emotional state in the moment.
And you guys really worked together as a team to support me, which gave me such peace of mind because I didn't have to worry about him.
Because this was his first time going through that process for his own kid, for his own wife.
But I cannot state enough that the amount of confidence I had going into this birth space was due to knowing I had so much faith in my team around me, chiefly my midwives and you and your prior experience and your ability to help me through those really tough emotions.
I knew I was going to have my female support and understanding of what a mother is going through.
And these are my personal preferences and need just to reiterate, but there were moments I just felt I needed to be held in that uniquely female experience.
And There were times that you really advocated for me and you preserved time for me to share those moments, even with my husband, right? Where we had that protected space to experience becoming new parents together, just having a moment alone with our new baby to enjoy those first precious moments of parenthood together.
So I wanted to also invite you, is there anything you'd like to share about the placenta work that you do? Because that was a service you provided for me at my second birth, and it was so helpful for my postpartum hormones to have that support.
So would you like to talk about the placenta encapsulation side of your doula business?
yeah I okay I love encapsulating placentas it really is like the ultimate witchy job to me like I'm in my camper trailer with a placenta like turning it into a magic potion for clients to be able to feel better during their postpartum so I am trained by the Association of Placenta Preparation Arts and And I pick up the placenta or if I'm near doula, like I take the placenta home and I either steam it or raw start, depending on what you like.
And then I cut it into small strips and put it in a dehydrator.
And then the next day I come back and I turn it into pills.
So while there's no like really great studies about it, 95% of mammals actually do eat their placentas.
It's really, really common.
And an interesting, I think it's an interesting fact that most of the mammals that don't are ocean mammals, which is kind of interesting.
So maybe there's some biological reason for that.
I don't know.
