In this episode, Ian Clarke talks to us from the reading in 2 Timothy 3: 12-17
So as PJ has said this term, we're looking as a congregation at rhythms and practices of our lives.
and it will tell you how to be good, do good deeds, and you'll all be lovely Christians.
Except, when you read that, how do you feel about reading the Bible? And what do you do when you get to those difficult bits, all the bits that seem to contradict itself? or the bits that seem to contradict what you know of your loving father.
There's a picture in our house that when we put up, and hiding behind that picture, I think are probably five holes trying to get this picture to hang straight.
because it was either parallel to the ceiling, or it was parallel to the floor, or it was parallel to the wall.
But what it couldn't be is parallel to all of these things, because houses in Valley Park aren't always straight.
Now, I don't know if you all know what a plumb line is, but a plumb line is just a piece of string with a strong weight at the end, and you hang it, and it hangs vertical, thanks to the joy that is gravity.
And what we could do is we could hang that picture true to the vertical, and true to the picture next to it.
We knew they were vertical, and we have learned to ignore all the other angles around it.
I'm really hoping that's going to come out on the audio version for everyone at home when we listen to it later.
