As long as she give me my house and my son, she can have anything else she wanted.
At some point, her family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, and in 1994, she graduated from Sandalwood High School.
Julie was described as an outgoing and friendly individual who had a natural ability for connecting with people and making friends wherever she went.
In 1998, she married Gerard Stewart, and soon became a stay-at-home mother.
She was very involved in her son's life, often volunteering with the PTA and helping chaperone school events.
However, by 2018, the marriage to Gerard had fallen apart, and in April of that year, she filed for a divorce.
While some were skeptical, she made it clear that she already had a plan in place and fully intended to move forward with the separation.
Tragically, she would never get the independence she so desperately sought.
On June 15th, 2018, Gerard shocked a neighbor when he began to tell a wild story about allegedly stabbing Julie inside their home earlier that day.
It was so shocking that the neighbor immediately called the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
When officers arrived, they found Gerard pulling his car out of the garage, and when he noticed the officers, he stopped, rushed back inside, and then refused to come out.
A three-hour standoff then followed, involving the SWAT team.
During that time, Stewart tried to take his own life by ingesting a large amount of pills, but it didn't work.
Thankfully, officers were able to rescue the couple's nine-year-old son from the home unharmed.
Stewart emerged not long after and was quickly taken into custody.
That's when officers discovered that Gerard was telling the truth.
He had, in fact, stabbed his wife to death.
While he told officers he had stabbed her two to three times, an autopsy later revealed she had actually been stabbed 13 times, including a fatal wound to her throat.
He went on to say that he murdered her because she was going to take everything from him in the divorce, including their son.
I know whatever happened in the past, we can work on our marriage.
Yeah.
And I begged her every single day, every single day.
As long as she give me my house and my son, she can have anything else she wanted.
'Cause she started naming all the stuff she wanted, and I said, "Fine, you can have it all."
