Va'etchanan and Eikev

Here's a mistake I heard a couple of years ago from my son Nadov when he didn't pay close enough attention to the Kevesayan.

It's in Shilishi, Parag Dalid, Pasuk Membet.

He made the mistake on the last couple of words of the Pasuk.

The last word, vachoi, applies earlier.

He will run there and live.

Where will he run? Nadav said something more along the lines of which is clearly a kebis-yayin type of error.

And here's another mistake I heard with a tipcha in V'eschanan.

This one is in Sheni.

I actually heard this one also yesterday at Mincha.

On the phrase, The Messorah puts the tipcha on Shenei.

Vayagad lachem es birisol, asher tziva es chem la'asos, aseres ha'divorim, vayichtivim, al shenei lucho sabonim.

Sh'nei is clearly in construct, it's two of, the luchos, but the Mesorah puts together things that belong together, and avanim goes together more with luchos than does sh'nei with luchos.

Therefore it's al-sh'nei luchos avanim and not al-sh'nei luchos avanim.

It's not inherently a terrible mistake, but if you've been following our analysis of how the Mesorah parses cases like this, if you said, , then from the Mesorah perspective, that probably meant that Avonim modified both and .

which is why the Mesorah does it the way it does it.

Avonim applies only to luchos, it doesn't apply to shenay.
