I'm using a machzor from Koran, and they follow some of the manuscripts that instead of having a komatz on nikdosh, they have a patach.

So their nusach reads, If you are pronouncing Havaras Sefardit, you won't make a distinction between a Komatz and a Patach, so it'll sound the same to you, but still as you're reading it, if you see a Patach or you see a Komatz, you should understand that these are different forms of the verb.

The Pasuk comes from Yeshayahu Perikhei Pasuk Tet Zion.

You'll notice the first two verbs in that Pasuk are with the Vav consecutive.

They are imperfects.

But unlike the imperfects that we'll find in narrative, this is in prophecy.

It doesn't mean the thing that happened, it means the next thing that will happen.

It's parallel to the verb tishpalna, without any vav, that's just a straight imperfect.

The easiest way to translate this verse into English is to do it in the present tense.

And man is bowed down, and man is humbled, and the eyes of the lofty are humbled.
