A lot of people treat quitting drinking like it's something they can start whenever they want or whenever they feel ready.
And that all sounds reasonable, like you're making a plan, but the problem is readiness is not always available.
Sometimes you get a rare moment where everything lines up in a way that lets you finally see the truth.
Then you get one of those moments where denial goes away just long enough for you to think, I can't keep doing this to myself.
But the mistake that people make is assuming that moment will still be there tomorrow.
They assume that because they feel this way today, they'll still feel that way next week or next month.
The part of you that wants to quit may get loud for a moment and then the bad stuff fades.
Maybe you even have a few drinking nights that seem normal enough and suddenly the truth that you saw so clearly starts to feel dramatic.
People often think they're only delaying quitting by a few weeks or a few months, but usually it's more like several months or years before you get a true moment of courage again.
