Send us Fan Mail Everything looks “fine” at Southfork until you watch the Ewings try to function without Jock. The grief is real, the denial is…
Number one, Lucy has no survival instinct.
Number two, being a baddie is a lot of work, a lot of love and a whole lot of hate.
And being the favorite kid might not be all it's cracked up to be.
At the top of the episode, we are reminded once again that Jock is no longer among us, allegedly, and the family needs to grieve and also get to business.
The only person in the family who has gotten that memo is Bobby the Ewing.
Bobby the Boy Scout.
Bobby the Reluctant Loyal Hero.
Bobby just wants to go to work and do what he needs to do because he has bigger fish to fry in the background.
But he can't even concentrate on that because the lawyer dude shows up real early one morning.
I can tell Bobby's not really himself because he's got half his chesticles out.
I don't think I've ever seen Bobby's chest hair in a normal shirt.
He has on this really fabulous turquoise heavy belt buckle.
So he's not 100 percent himself, but he's trying to get there.
You know what I'm saying? The lawyer said, listen, I understand y'all are going through what you're going through.
I understand that is a tough time.
But also your father, from the sweat of his brow, has built a company that needs to run.
And he put certain things in order in the inevitability of his death.
This show needs to run as he would want it to run.
Bobby says, listen, lawyer boy, I hear you.
I understand what you're saying.
But my mama is just not going there right now.
And she ain't seen nobody.
So as far as she's concerned, my daddy ain't dead.
I don't really know what to tell you.
