And then years later, when the show had kind of gone off the rails.

she just kind of opened up the shower door and there was Bobby Ewing.

And they just kind of explained like the last two seasons or whatever, as it was a dream.

And that's a little bit what Mephisto felt like.

And you just believe who's got the best bus.

I think we should just agree to Bobby Ewing it.

I just think we should just say, look, you know how when something hasn't worked out in a TV show, we say, OK, look, forget it.

And then the Texas boom, the Dallas had been selling for eight years, started to collapse into the bank failures of the late eighties.

And that spring the show ended its season with Bobby Ewing, who had been killed off a year earlier, stepping out of the shower and, In the fall, it revealed that the entire previous season had been a dream.

And so you get one of the most defining things in screenwriting, which is, this is a cop-out, this is a shitty trope, don't do that, don't kill your character off, and then invest your audience and all the characters in solving the murder, and then just tell people, oh, this season of television hasn't happened.

You know, I doubt anyone in the writer's room meant it as commentary.

Anyway...

That was like that season of Dallas where it was all a Bobby Ewing dream.

Was it Bobby's dream or Pam's dream? I think it was Pam's dream.

Bobby was in the shower.

And you look at this tiny swimming pool, and then the tour guide was telling us that they actually put a mirror at one end of it.

They used a wide-angled lens, and if anyone remembers Patrick Duffy playing Bobby Ewing, he had been the man from Atlantis and was quite athletic.

So apparently they used to tie a rope and put a weight around his waist.

So it only looked like he was swimming hard through the water.
