What happens when a strong market, rising wealth, and social media advice create a false sense of financial security? John Blanchard explores why retirement planning is about more than chasing…
Yeah, I mean, look, from there, I mean, it's a matter of hiring a team of professionals.
When it comes down to like that extended care, long-term care, I actually have an aunt.
I was actually riding my motorcycle, that's probably about three weeks ago, ended up going to False River.
And she, my aunt actually lives out there, but I like to just to go draw a ride on the weekends.
And i decided let me go down her particular street she lives right off the main highway and she just so happened she was walking outside so stopped over we talked she was showing me some updates that she's doing to the house unfortunately my uncle passed away last year and so it's it's she's like man this house is just a little too much From an upkeep standpoint, I'm trying to decide what I want to do.
She's like, what do you mean by that? I was like, look, they have some options where you can go in and probably rent a room for a month or two and get an idea of if that facility is right for you, if the crowd is right for you.
But then you have to go back and think about, okay, you're not going to be able to overlook the water, you know, the False River anymore.
The neighbors that you've been talking to for the last 45 years, 50 years, are no longer there every day for you to talk to.
So you might be looking at the upkeep, but then it's like, maybe what if you could outsource the upkeep a little bit instead of moving out of your comfort zone? And so these are things that, you know, discussions that you need to have.
But I would venture to bet if he had grandchildren, she would probably be moving to Houston to be around him and his children, no doubt whatsoever.
And so in the event when someone doesn't have children, it's mostly you can have sons, but you can't.
What we hear a lot is it's easier when you have daughters to help you out versus your daughter-in-law to help you out or your son to help you out.
Like we have people that, you know, the clients that we help out, the husband's helping out, you know, the mother or the mother's living with them.
