**Summary:** I talk about why most bone mass is genetically fixed, what the newest research actually shows about resistance and impact training, and why the real goal is preventing falls, not only…
So you might have noticed that I haven't actually done a podcast for a little while.
Took a couple of weeks off to go to Greece which was lovely and I wanted to cover this episode before I went away but here we are now.
Now I have spoken about bone mass before as part of other episodes but I feel like it needs a own standalone piece and we had some research come out at the end of last year that I think is worth updating this topic overall.
So you can really understand everything you need to know when it comes to increasing bone mass.
And one of the reasons that sort of triggered me to do the episode is I've seen more and more, not misinformation, but potentially messaging getting a little bit distorted in the space where people are talking about resistance training, impact training and its effect on bone mass.
Now, on one hand, like telling women to resistance train and incorporate like jump based training is, For women to think about health and longevity is all great.
But I want to make sure that you understand how much control you have over bone mass and also what isn't accurate.
So a caveat, I guess, to start, because what I don't want to happen is for anyone to get disheartened listening to this first part of the conversation.
shows us and what we know about bone mass overall so you are very very clear on what is possible and probably wasn't what isn't possible and also so you can sort of spot inauthentic claims are being made on social media and when I talk to my clients about this topic I always frame it a certain way to make sure they focus on what really is in their control and that's what we're going to end the podcast episode with so Straight into the big context point, the bit I don't want you to get disheartened about, that the majority of your bone mass is already set.
