So the moment anybody wants mainframe data in the cloud, the answer is always, you know, first, let's make a copy.
And every copy the customer builds is a duplicate that they need to store, secure, a pipeline to maintain, a source of data that drifts over time.
Vince, in your experience, why is the copy-first approach, the immediate response, the immediate reflex, and why is it so much more expensive than it looks?
The reflex is not just to copy it, but to transform it in a way that some other platforms, some other application can understand it properly.
We used to joke that everybody talks about the mainframe being home to 70% of the world's business data, but The reality is by the time you get done making all of these copies, all of that data is actually on every other platform as well, because you've done the replication thing over and over and over again.
I mean, if you're a mainframe administrator or security expert or whatever it is, every time you make a copy, you kind of hold your breath and hope that that's going to be protected properly and managed properly.
And, you know, so it's definitely a loss of control also that, you know, we talk about all the time.
So, you know, I think it's all of that together creates that uneasy feeling of, I need the information.
