We'll start this week with a technology that is still years away, but already has governments organizing around it.

The NTIA announced that it will lead an international team focused on secure, resilient six G systems that can work together across borders.

More than twenty partner governments from Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and the Western Hemisphere are set to participate.

The group plans to establish milestones for international cooperation and create a framework that will give the private sector clear direction as six G development moves forward.

Six G is expected to emerge alongside artificial intelligence rather than having AI added later, as happened with earlier wireless generations.

A GSMA report cited by Telecompetitor estimated that six G could require as much as three times the spectrum available today.

So even before the standards are settled, governments and carriers are already thinking about spectrum capacity, system security, global leadership, and who will shape the rules.
