Nobody goes to the Sahara and says, "I've arrived." The wilderness is the in-between stage.
It's a long, challenging road between where you were and where you are going.
We often treat our own lives this way.
We're so focused on getting there, finishing school, reaching our career milestone, or waiting for a specific life event, that we treat the time we're in right now as something just to get through.
It teaches us that wilderness is the story.
The growth, the lessons, and the building up of a community didn't happen because they reached the land.
It happened while they were still on the way.
If we wait until we arrive to start finding meaning, we miss most of the important parts of our own lives.
