Theological Insight - Romans 10:14-15
Scott ThomasHostTheological Insight Wednesday, September 30, 2026 Primary Verse As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news! Romans 10.15 Expert Level How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news.
Paul develops a clear sequence.
They believe because they hear the gospel.
They hear because someone proclaims it.
And someone proclaims because that messenger has been sent.
This sequence helps us understand the biblical work of evangelism.
Evangelism is the faithful communication of the good news of Jesus Christ with the desire that people hear, understand, repent, and believe.
Evangelism, therefore, centers on a message with specific content.
Paul summarizes that message earlier in Romans.
Romans 5.8 Romans 10 also establishes the relationship between evangelism and faith.
Paul writes, So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
The evangelist cannot produce faith in another person.
Our responsibility is to communicate the gospel clearly, faithfully, and lovingly, and to call people to respond to Christ.
Paul also emphasizes the importance of sending.
