Surrendering to Sexual Sobriety Part 1

A couple of things about AA.

So you said you were sober.

I absolutely believe you.

You said you're working program, you had sponsees, you know, I'm guessing you were regular at meetings.

I'm just making that up and I'm guessing you can't nod your head, but does that sound like you were working fairly? All true.

Okay.

So what about, so what about rigorous honesty in all of our affairs?

Look, the program also says we do not wish to be the arbiter of anyone's sex conduct.

Yes, well, we know what Phil was doing, so, you know, that kind of makes sense.

But I'm sorry, I digress.

So I used that opening and made it big enough to drive a truck through

it.

You know, I felt permission to act out because I was sober and I thought that, I don't know, gave me the green light to do anything else I wanted.

So let me go after that for a second, which is, you know, and I think this is the distortion, right? To not manage or oversee someone's sex life.

We can't control that.

We can't tell them what they do.

But rigorous honesty has nothing to do with that.

Rigorous honesty is, you know, the woman you're going out with, tell her what's really going on.

You know, you're honest with her.

You don't date three people at a time, you know, whatever all that is.

I'm talking about that part.

I was rigorously, honestly a lunatic.

I swear, I'm not even saying I was a master of deception.

I was brazen with my behavior.

I was proud of my behavior.
