Aug 21, 2026 · 38 min · 12 segments
Last episode I told you about the mistake I made with a bride. Today, I am sharing the lesson underneath it: I can't grow my business without being honest with myself about where it really stands. I'm…
Okay, let's go ahead and dive into today's topic.
If you remember last week's episode, I shared a kind of embarrassing story with you about a recent bride that I had here in my local business.
If you take anything away from that episode, I hope you come away with two things.
We've never come so far as to not need help or not need to learn anymore.
So we're always going to be growing and evolving and making ourselves better for our clients.
So you're not alone.
Number one, if you're making a mistake.
And number two, I hope you heard how important it is to be honest with yourself when you have a difficult situation like that.
Because if I wasn't honest with myself or with my team to talk about kind of all the little ways that we dropped the ball for this bride, like starting with that first appointment when I was like, you're my best friend.
We wouldn't have been able to grow because it would have been easier to be like, whatever, that was just a one-off thing.
Let's just keep doing what we're doing.
So the honesty is so important for a growth mindset.
I see this so much within our membership and especially when I'm working with women one-on-one with coaching calls Often we talk about something called limiting beliefs, and those can be instilled in us unintentionally by other people or intentionally by other people.
And they're just false beliefs that we need to break.
So the first thing is acknowledging that those are false beliefs before we're able to break them and then build truth.
in the place of where they lived in our minds but unfortunately sometimes we also tell ourselves the lies okay so that can be really difficult with clients is helping them identify what lies they may have been subconsciously telling themselves how to even identify what the lies are help them being honest with themselves in their business so that way we can just build onto something better and replace maybe that unintentional dishonesty with awesome, exciting, motivating truths.
It's the best part of my job.
Okay, but being honest with yourself is hard, and it's uncomfortable sometimes.
And I think, because I was thinking a lot about this, like the concept of honesty, and nobody wants to say I'm dishonest, you know, whether, even if it is just with yourself.
But when we are the business owner, and we are the ones responsible for every micro decision that has brought us to this point, it's hard to not just tell ourselves, oh, everything's good.
Because the alternative is to admit that we've done something wrong somewhere along the way or that we could be doing something better now to create a different outcome for our business.
It's easier to think, okay, we're all good.
This is as good as it gets for me.
This is as good as it gets for her.
