Secrets of a Bridal Seamstress
Sep 22, 2026 · 1 hr 24 min · 17 segments
This episode is a little different. It's pulled straight from our Booked Without Burnout webinar, and the turnout (and the takeaways) were so good we had to turn it into an episode. You'll hear from…
So I, as you've heard, like some, all these women had different, very different businesses, right? And just like you, you all represent very personal, unique individual businesses.
And so a lot of times I'll have women reaching out for coaching or they'll come in the membership and they want to know, okay, how many brides do I take on a month? How many sewing hours do I need a week? How many fitting hours do I need a week? And As much as I would love to give you this magic number, there is none.
Because there are all these variables within each of our businesses.
So as Tammy had touched on at the beginning of the call, what kind of dresses you're working on, who the designers are, how are they putting these dresses together? How fast do you sew? I don't know how fast you sew.
Do you offer time cutting options? I know some bridal seamstresses offer like, for this budget, I can do this alteration.
For this budget and timeframe, I can do this alteration.
And then some are like, absolutely not.
I'm only going to do the long way, which is fine too.
So that will vary how much time you're spending on the sewing.
Um, there's really just an, and how much time do you want to be home? Like how much money do you want to make each month? Like what are your personal goals? So it's really impossible to say like, this has to be your monthly cap and this has to be, you know, how many hours you're sewing a week.
One of our members in our, in a call last week, she shared that she had like almost 80 dresses this month that she's working on with her team.
And I'm like, Oh my gosh, like I can't, and then I was like, where are these brides coming from anyway? So it's going to be so different based on each business.
And so I'm not here to give you a specific tool because there is none.
And I feel like if there were a simple solution like that, we'd all already be talking about it, right? Because it is so nuanced.
Um, But what I did want to address is a common thread that I see in every woman who comes in for coaching or every woman who's sharing in the membership wanting to get out of a certain pattern in her business.
And that is something we like to call self-sabotage.
So we're going to play a little game for the rest of this call and figure out how self-sabotage is affecting your business.
It's a really fun game.
I'm kidding.
It's a little sarcastic.
But it is a good tool because once you figure out exactly which form of self-sabotage is affecting your business, you're going to know how to get to the root of the problem.
And that's what I want to help you with more so than giving you like a new planner or like a formula to work with because it is, your business is so personal and it's impossible to take you as a human being with the experiences that you grew up with, the beliefs that are instilled in you, your habits, whether they're conscious or subconscious habits and It's impossible to separate that part of you from the part of you that's running a business.
And so what you're going to hear in the next few minutes is just how these things are affecting these minute decisions that you're making in your business.
And at the end of the season, it's manifesting as this huge rock that's going to roll on top of you.
So before we kind of dive into the three most common forms of self-sabotage, I'll explain what the heck that means if you've never heard that term.
