Voices of mail-in voters: ‘What other alternative do many of us have?’

Some told us they go out of state to escape the South Dakota winters.

My name is Jess Hall.

I'm 63 years old and I live in Winter, South Dakota.

I'm a registered Republican.

I'm retired.

Voting by mail is important to me because I was actually out of state during the election time.

So it helps me.

About five years ago, we came down here.

We were living in our RV, South Georgia.

We came down for the winter.

just to see how the weather was and kind of fell in love with it.

So we ended up buying a little seven acre plot here.

And so what we're trying to do now is fix it up, built a house, got a pool.

We

were born and raised in South Dakota, you know, still love South Dakota.

We have a house there

and my family's still back there.

I served 20 years in the military and then 20 years as a contractor for the government also.

So it's very important to, I mean, take care of our country, make sure it's going in the right direction that, you know, that I would like to see happen.
